Base visit at RAF Marham
Extract from the » Hungarian version
Our team was fortunate enough to have a base visit at RAF Marham on the last day of March, 2006. Our aim was to report about the life of XIII Squadron, flying Tornado GR.4 and GR.4A aircraft. The deputy commander of the squadron, Sq. Ldr. Gordon Carr gave us a detailed presentation on the missions, equipment and life of the unit. This was followed by a live demonstration of the mission planning system, and we could see the monument of Flt. Lt. Kevin Main and David Williams, who gave their life during Operation Telic.
As there was no flying that day, the next station of our visit was at one of the HASs. Two Tornados were parked inside the shelter, where we were given a very detailed introduction of the cockpits - it took more than an hour, so at the end we felt that we could have fly the aircraft by our own!
Our special thanks goes to Sq. Ldr "REM" Merrick
