The flight programme of the 2006 Flying Legends Air Show, the premier old-timer event in Europe has begun at 2 p.m. as usual. The first demo was flown by 13 Spitfires, commemorating the 70th birthday of the type. This was followed by some F4Us, then three Bristol F.2Bs - the type was operated by the Hungarian Air Force in the twenties, too. There were two demos featuring carrierborne fighters, the first one with Grumman Cats, while the other one with a Skyraider and a Sea Fury. The BBMF Lancaster was escorted by a Hurricane and a Spitfire. Two Flying Fortresses, a Mitchell and an Invader represented the American bombers, while their fighters consisted of a Thunderbolt and six Mustangs.

The Luftwaffe was demonstrated by a Bf-108, two Ju-52s and a Spanish-built Bf-109. The other rarities included a Russian I-152 fighter biplane, a Swiss-built MS-406, a Curtiss Hawk 75A-1 and a Hawker Nimrod.

The display was concluded by the usual - and really impressive - Balbo flight, this time made by 30 WWII vintage beauties.
